Meet the Team: Rex the Number CruncherPosted On June 28, 2019
Rex is Northern Honda’s Secretary-Treasurer, and plays a big part in the financial matters at the dealership.
“Secretary-Treasurer is an older term. Many people who do a job like mine have the title ‘Controller’, but essentially the job would be the same,” he says.
“In a busy place like Northern Honda, I handle all of the corporate paperwork, and dealership needs. That means I’m working on ensuring our bills are paid, work orders are processed, payroll is done, and things like that,” says Rex.
Rex started working in the financial field in 1991.
“I actually worked with David Barber, Northern Honda’s Owner Operator, at another dealership in the city for 13 years. Then when David began with Honda, I saw an opportunity to work with him again in 2010, so I’m in my 9th year with Northern Honda and I really enjoy it,” he adds.
While Rex loves his number crunching now, he actually started out studying marketing in college.
“Then I noticed how much fun I was having when I was tutoring other students in math and accounting, and realized financial work was where I should be,” he explains.
When not keeping the books balanced, Rex says he follows his favorite sport lacrosse and will travel to see some games of The Toronto Rock lacrosse team. He also tries to get to the Honda Indy as often as he can.
If he’s not too deep into his numbers, say “HI” to Rex next time you’re at the dealership!
